Happy Friday friends!  I hope you are doing well and that you are relaxed and ready for the holiday weekend and Christmas.  I finished picking up the last little odds and ends that I needed and wrapped the remaining presents today (not a day to spare as Taylor and my sister and nieces will be coming into town in just a few short hours).  In any free time I could squeeze in over the last week you could find me in these pj’s binge reading Swear on This Life.  A big thank you to Abby @aboutabbyblog for recommending it!

Book Review: Swear on This Life

It is not often that a book can hook me in the first few pages but the minute I started reading the sample on my iPad, I couldn’t put it down.  Normally I am one of those readers who actually likes to have the paper book in hand but I could not find a single bookstore in Austin that carried the book and I just couldn’t wait for it to be delivered (yes…it is that good).

Without giving too much away, this book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming.  It was a unique, intense, all-consuming second chance story of friendship, love, and overcoming child abuse and neglect.  The way the story developed just kept pulling at my heartstrings until every part of me was right there needing to know what happened next and desperate to see how it would end.  I literally couldn’t turn the electronic pages fast enough!  I think it probably goes without saying that I highly recommend this book.

My family and I are taking a road trip to visit my grandparents and aunt in Arkansas next week and I have already picked up a copy of  another Renee Carlino book, Before We Were Strangers to read and the audio book Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks for the 12 hour drive.  I so wish reading in the car didn’t make me car sick, haha!  I will share my reviews of these books soon.

Have you read any great books lately?  I would love any book suggestions you have… please leave them in the comment section below the post.  Thank you!

Keeping It Short & Sweet,

Kelli
