I cannot believe that it is July! Not sure where the month of June went, but it definitely went fast! This past week, I got on a cleaning and organizing kick. I guess the spring cleaning bug finally hit me in the middle of summer. Two days and about 14 bags later, I think I am donating enough to clothe a third world country. Which tells you that I have held on to clothes just a little too long thinking I might wear them again in the future. I am setting a new goal for myself: buy one give one. I like to donate my clothes to Safe Place, an organization that is committed to ending violence and abuse.
4th of July Austin Style
There are several places to watch fireworks in Austin, but my absolute favorite is watching from the 360 Overlook. Every year Austin Country Club puts on an amazing fireworks display at sunset on the 4th. People watch from boats on Lake Austin, the walkway on the east side of the Pennybacker Bridge, from their cars along the road, and from the two overlooks. As you can imagine it gets really crowded, so if you are planning to experience this show in person, I suggest getting there early with snacks and drinks and you can enjoy a little hike and picnic followed by fireworks around 8:00-8:30.
Austin Rowing Dock is also renting kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards to watch the City of Austin Fireworks over Lady Bird Lake from the water! Tickets range from $45-$90 and allow you to be on the lake to listen to the music from Auditorium Shores starting at 8:30 and for the fireworks starting at 9:30.
Shop My Closet:
I’m going to try something new this week. Instead of filling the roundup with a ton of individual pictures and links, I am going to show you my favorites for the week and then put the link to the Shop Short and Sweet Page where you can find each outfit and the links to each piece pictured. Let me know what you think!
One Last Note…
Holiday weekends can be stressful. I used to worry about plans and who I was with and what I was going to do. True and funny example…One holiday weekend a group of my girlfriends and I decided that we didn’t want to have to worry about finding a boy with a boat to take us out on the lake, so we rented a boat. Sounds like a great plan, right? Did I mention that none of us knew how to drive a boat? Talk about stressful! Instead of telling you the whole story, I’ll just let your imagination have a little fun. We all survived thank goodness! One thing I’ve worked on over the years is putting a stop to the fear of missing out. It will probably always be a work in progress. I hope that no matter where you are or who you are with that you have a relaxing long weekend…even if that means curling up in the air conditioning and binge watching your favorite shows!
