Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes

Sometimes I get so busy, I forget to clean my makeup brushes!  Honestly, our little secret, I didn’t clean my makeup brushes at all for the longest time. If you can relate to this…you’re not alone.

Once I invested in makeup brushes, I wanted them to last and apply makeup as well as they did the day I bought them.  Cleaning your brushes every few weeks makes them last forever (okay probably not forever, but a really long time 😉).

Cleaning your brushes is super easy, which is a must for me. You don’t need to buy a special brush cleanser, you just need lukewarm water and gentle soap (examples: unscented white soap bar or baby shampoo). Then just follow these easy steps every few weeks:

1: Rinse the bristles in lukewarm water with the bristles pointing downward (try not to get water on the metal or handle.

2. Swirl the brushes in gentle soap until sudsy

3. Rinse out the soap holding the brush at a downward angle in lukewarm water

4. Gently squeeze out any excess water and reshape the brush

5. Let the brush sit overnight on a dry towel

Super fast & easy, the Short & Sweet way!  Sometimes I clean my brushes as I use them in the morning and lay them to dry while I’m off running around during the day. By the time I’m back & ready to wash my face at night, they’re dry & ready to be put away!

How do you clean your makeup brushes? Leave a comment! I’m always looking for new ideas!

I hope your weekend is off to an amazing start! The weather here in Austin is beautiful so I’m off to go enjoy it while it lasts. If you aren’t from Texas, let’s just say Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes!

Keeping it Short & Sweet,

Kelli
