Spring Fragrance

It’s that time of year…spring cleaning, tossing out the old, and refreshing with the new! I am sometimes a creature of habit especially when it comes to makeup and perfume!  I was so excited to have a chance to collaborate with Fragrance Market and Rose Eau De Toilette Spray for Women by Mercedes-Benz to try out their perfume!  After all, Mercedes Benz is known for their luxury products!  Once again, I was stalking the mailman, haha!

When the package arrived it felt a little like my birthday.  Inside the shipping box, the perfume was wrapped in shiny silver paper with a big blue bow.  I always love when companies take the time to wrap your purchase and include a note!  Even when you’ve purchased it for yourself, it still feels like you are receiving a gift!  Of course, I couldn’t resist trying it out, even though it was the end of the day and getting close to bed time. First impression, it smelled like spring, light and refreshing.  With primarily floral and citrus scents it makes the perfect daytime perfume.  I received several compliments at work the first day I wore it.  There’s nothing like someone saying, “You smell so good, what is that?”  Day made, thank you!

My daughter who is 18 also loved the scent!  Which made me start to think that this might be a perfect gift for graduates or moms for Mother’s Day!  It’s hard to believe that both of these are just around the corner!  If you decide to give it a try, I suggest you check out Fragrance Market and use the CODE: 10OFFBEST for 10% off your purchase!

Youthful Skin at Any Age

Locate a Spring Renewal National Event and Enter for a Chance to Win WeeklyI started using ant-aging products when I was in college.  I remember the sweet lady behind the Chanel counter telling me that she was impressed that I was already using anti-aging products at such a young age!  Maybe it was the endless hours that I had spent soaking up the rays on the beach or laying in a tanning bed for years on end that encouraged me to start early.  Over the years I have tried many anti-aging products and I wanted to share my newest favorite, Hyla3D!   I have been using it twice a day after I wash my face and before I apply my moisturizer.  Bottom line, this is my favorite!  After using Hyla3D I was able to see a visible difference in my skin’s hydration, smoothness, and a reduction in fine lines after the first week.  If you are looking for a new anti-aging product, I would definitely give this one a try!  I think you will LOVE it!

Short and Sweet Sunday Round Up

Happy Sunday friends!  I hope you have had an amazing weekend!  This was a big weekend for me because my one and only daughter went to her senior prom! I know…we’re talking milestones here people.  Do you remember your prom?  I do, and lets just say I’m so glad that she is not nearly the wild child that I was at her age.  She has me under lock and key with the pictures right now, but here is a little sneak peek!

Explore Austin Series:  This weekend I wanted to share the Hope Outdoor Gallery, aka Austin Graffiti Park, with you. It is an amazing site to see. Built on a abandoned construction site, Hope, a non-profit organization adopted this site as a place for local artists to display their talent.  Hope benefits the Austin community in so many ways from yoga and break dancing classes to foster kid programs.  I encourage you to click on the link above and learn more.

Helpful Hints:

  • Pack your patience, parking is a little crazy on the weekend
  • Wear tennis shoes (I wore flip flops-oops) There is a little hiking involved
  • Bring your camera

The Gift of Time

With Mother’s Day and Graduation Day just around the corner I thought now was the perfect time to talk about the gift of time.   Who wouldn’t love more time?  Okay, maybe a high school senior is counting down the time, but for those of us who are busy adulting, everyday time is such a precious commodity!   I want more time with my daughter, more time with my students, more time to plan, more time to travel…the list could seriously go on and on!  Who’s with me?

I think time is part of what makes a gift so special.  It takes time to be thoughtful.  I always try to be a great gift giver, but I learned that I need to start listening, really listening, to up my game.

Today a friend from work gave me a gift out of the blue.  I was so surprised and felt so loved. This precious teacher and mom of two, took time out of her day to buy something for me because I had a hard week.  It gets even better, each piece was thoughtful!

michelle gift

This super cute pineapple, plastic wine glass filled with jelly beans made me happier than a kid on Christmas!  Here’s why:

Part 1…a few weeks ago, I was rushing to get out the door and accidentally knocked a wine glass of my night stand.  It shattered in a million pieces that I didn’t have time to clean up, so I closed my door to make sure the sweetest puppy members of my family were safe.   I remember laughing about it at work and dreading picking it up when I got home and I am better about trying to make sure that I don’t leave a glass there.  An ounce of prevention, right?  Other than trying to prevent another morning catastrophe, I really hadn’t thought about it again…but she did.  Thus the plastic wine glass!  Genius!

Part 2…This same friend was wearing the cutest pineapple shirt the other day.  I remember saying that I loved it and that I was obsessed with pineapples right now.  Not only did she buy me a plastic wine glass, she somehow found one with a pineapple on it!

I’m a talker, I talk a lot…yet it always surprises me when someone shows me they actually listen.  I obviously need to work on talking less and listening more or at least just really heariing.  Keeping it real!

Part 3…It’s no secret that I will eat almost anything that has sugar in it.  Just saying, it is true.  However, ever since Easter, I have been walking around with a handful of jelly beans quite a lot.  No shame in that game.  So the icing on this gift’s cake was that the best wine glass ever made in my opinion was filled to the brim with jelly beans!

I am sharing this because not only am I grateful for such a thoughtful gift, but I know that Mother’s Day and Graduation are around the corner.  I hope to put as much thought into my gifts as Michelle put into mine.  That being said, I can tell you a JORD watch  is a perfect Mother’s Day or graduation gift! How do I know?  My 18 year old daughter who has never worn a watch in her life up to this point is wearing my JORD watch everyday. Too bad I didn’t save it for her graduation gift, but it’s not too late for you, haha.

Seriously, what gift says, “I’ll love you till the end of time” better than a unique watch? The grad in your life has put in countless hours studying and did what it took to reach this huge milestone!

Jord Watches are unique in part because their bands are made from different types of wood, making each timepiece one of a kind!  An added bonus, the watch comes in a beautiful wood box with a small drawer in the bottom, perfect for storing other small jewelry like rings and earrings.  The watch my daughter and I are wearing is in the Cora: Zebrawoood and Rose.  You can also shop Jord Men’s Watch Collection here.

So, in the spirit of gift giving, it’s GIVEAWAY TIME!  Whoohoo!  Every person who enters will be given a chance to win a $100 gift code to use on the JORD site.  One lucky person will win, but everyone will receive a consolation code worth $25 once the contest ends. Entering is a win, win!  Good Luck!

Shake it Up

Ever feel like your daily routines start making you feel a little like your life is a more a rendition of Groundhog’s Day than the comfort of consistency? You’re not alone!  It may or may not be a case of spring fever!

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a Type-A personality, a tad perfectionistic, love crossing things off my todo list, and thrive on organaztion and consistency.  I know the grass is always greener, but I’m in the mood to shake things up a bit!  I have a case of wanderlust! I want to go new places, try new things, and step out of my comfort zone.   Still not ready to hurl myself out of a perfectly good airplane (although I have been trying to convince myself to skydive with my daughter…not quite there yet). My dad is a pilot and I would love to travel the world with him! Check out the view from the Gulfstream he flies…who knew you could see the curvature of the Earth from the inside of an airplane?

Since summer travel plans are still a month away I’ve decided to get outside and enjoy all the great places Austin has to offer. This weekend I went to two of my favorite places in Austin that are in walking distance of my house for the first time in way too long!

Bull Creek Park

There are several spots along 360 to access Bull Creek Parks. On the weekend it’s packed! It’s dog friendly, has a lot of trails for hiking, and the water is refreshing on hot days! If you’re in Northwest Austin & don’t want to battle the notorious traffic this is a great spot for a little adventure!

360/Pennybacker Bridge Overlook

There are trails on each side of the bridge and both offer stunning views of Lake Austin, Downtown, and the beautiful hill country scenery. I definitely recommend the Trail on the Northeast side of the bridge because it’s easy to find parking on the street entrance to the Courtyard subdivision which is just steps away from the trail. It’s also far less crowded than the entrance on the other side of the bridge. Wear tennis shoes as the hike up is rocky and slightly steep.  A five minute hike will bring you to an amazing view!

I’m committed to getting out and exploring Austin again & sharing all of these adventures with you!  If you live in Austin or are planning your next trip to Austin I hope you have a chance to check out some of my faves! Let’s shake it up Austin style!

Have a suggestion for me to check out? I know other readers would love to hear it as much as I would!  Make sure to write your thoughts in the comments section! I’d also love to know the best spots to check out when I’m lucky enough to be in your city!

Series Recommendation:

big little lies

Have you watched the HBO series Big Little Lies?  If not, get ready to be hooked!  I finally finished watching Series 1 this weekend!  Wow!  The season finale aired on April 2nd…don’t worry, no spoilers here! Based on the same-titled best-seller by Liane Moriarty, “Big Little Lies” with an amazing cast, touches on the challenges, secrets, and strength of relationships between girlfriends, husbands and wives, and parents and their children. It brings light to domestic and family violence,  which is a topic that needs to be brought into the spotlight to raise awareness and support for women.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the series and or book!

Coming to the Blog:

This month, I will be blogging about gift ideas for Mother’s Day and grads!  It’s hard to believe that it’s almost that time of the year!  Also, I will be writing a series about Austin. There is a reason why this little, big town is such a hit!

Tuesday Tips

Several of you have asked questions about products I use for different things, so I put together 3 easy & inexpensive tips that I use EVERYDAY!

1. Use Micellar Cleasnsing Water to remove make before washing your face! It’s gentle, feels like water, and is great for all skin types! It removes waterproof mascara and Lipsense (if you’ve ever used this amazing lipgloss you will appreciate that you can remove it with a few light swipes after it staying put on your for 12 hours). The best part…it’s under $10 and lasts for months!

                   Micellar Cleansing Water

2. Addicted to ChapStick? I was too! Now I use a sugar lip scrub in the morning before applying makeup & in the evening after washing my face. It exfoliates with sugar & hydrates with maracuja oil leaving your lips feeling soft and hydrated. A little goes a long way. This little jar will probably last a year!

                         Tarte Lip Exfoliator

3. Alcohol Free Wipes can be used for so many things! If you’re a mom you probably already have them stashed everywhere! I use them to wipe down my shoes at the end of the day! It will keep your shoes looking new! I bought wipes for the beach that are made with Coconut Water for my face and now I use them to clean my shoes too!

                  Pacifica COCO Pure Wipes

I hope your week is off to a great start and that you love these 3 products as much as I do! I would love to hear any quick tips you have! Leave them in the comments section below! It takes a village friends!
